Bio: Greek-American Bass-Baritone Stephanos Tsirakoglou first studied chemistry in the USA before entering into the world of classical music. He began specializing in the Italian buffo and bel canto repertoire. Roles to his credit include Giorgio Walton, Doctor Dulcamara, Falstaff, Schicchi, Leporello, Mozart's Figaro, Don Magnifico, Don Pasquale, and both Rossini's and Mozart's Bartolo. More recently he has expanded his repertoire to include many German roles both in operette (Ollendorf in "Der Bettelstudent" and Frank in "Die Fledermaus") and opera (Biterolf in "Tannhäuser" and Beckmesser in "Die Meistersinger"). After returning from a summer covering at the Glyndebourne Festival, Mr. Tsirakoglou opened the 2016/2017 season at the Hessian State Theater in Wiesbaden. Between March 2012 and July 2015, Mr. Tsirakoglou was a full-time member of the ensemble at the South Thuringian State Theater in Meiningen, Germany, with guest engagements both in Germany (Chemnitz, Regensburg, Magdeburg, etc.) and internationally, including New Orleans, USA, and the Menuhin Festival in Gstadt, Switzerland. Mr. Tsirakoglou is in demand as a concert soloist as well, having sung the baritone and bass solos in the Mozart, Fauré, Brahms, Howells, and Verdi Requiems. He has also been heard performing Bach’s St. John Passion and Magnificat, Handel’s Foundling Hospital Anthem and Messiah, Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas and Ode to St. Cecilia’s Day.
