Bio: Steven C. Kemp is a set designer for theatre, opera and events. Originally from Houston, Texas, he received his MFA from UC San Diego. He has designed over 50 productions in NYC including shows Off-Broadway at Second Stage Theater, The Duke on 42nd Street, Fellowship for the Performing Arts, York Theatre Company, Mint Theater Company, 47th Street Theatre, New Worlds Theatre Project, The Shop, The Cherry Lane Theatre, The Playwright’s Realm and Keen Company where his 10 productions include the Off-Broadway revivals of Ordinary Days, Tick, Tick…Boom!, John and Jen and Marry Me a Little.
Steven’s designs for opera have been presented at Des Moines Metro Opera, Sarasota Opera, New Orleans Opera, Hawaii Opera Theatre, Opera Santa Barbara, Opera Grand Rapids, Kentucky Opera, Tulsa Opera, Townsend Opera, Fresno Grand Opera, UrbanArias, Merola Opera, Indiana University - Jacobs School of Music, San Francisco Conservatory of Music, and Opera San Jose where his 15 designs include the acclaimed production of Idomeneo presented by the Packard Humanities Institute as well as the West Coast Premieres of Anna Karenina, Silent Night and the American premiere of Alma Deutscher’s Cinderella.
He additionally has extensive regional and international credits as well as corporate and exhibit design experience. He was the associate designer on 10 Broadway productions as well as numerous operas and national tours. He specializes in 3D rendering, animation and previsualization.
