Sybille Witkowski

Soprano
Bio: That´s li(f)ve There's no holding her back. One phone call in the morning and soprano singer Sybille Witkowski is standing on the stage that same evening. As for example in the main female role in the world premiere of Johannes Harneit’s “Abends am Fluss” (Evening by the River). To do this requires more than just courage and experience. For this you need a true foundation upon which singing and acting wholly come to life, where the new can evolve from the old; something incalculable, which sweeps you along yet can be controlled; where knowledge and experience come together and where being precedes appearance. While many things in life are schematic – 'that's simply how you do it', life can suddenly surprise us, everything is fresh and different. Life streams forth, flowing and changing, reaching further, higher, deeper; it is clear as crystal yet also velvet-soft, narrated with a fluent timbre, with vigour and musicality. At first Sybille Witkowski started forming her voice with Rosemarie Hagemann. The following work led her to further voice types: from lyric soprano through soprano lirico spinto and dramatic coloratura soprano to dramatic soprano – an unconventional path, on which brilliant height and precise fluentness get together on a dramatic sound basis. While still a member of the International Opera Studio of Nuremberg State Theatre, the soprano Sybille Witkowski made her debut as the title figure in “Die Csárdásfürstin” (The Gypsy Princess). She belonged to the ensemble of soloists during the seasons that followed and sang, among other roles, the Countess in “Le Nozze de Figaro” (The Marriage of Figaro), Rosalinde in “Die Fledermaus”, the first lady in “Die Zauberflöte” (The Magic Flute) and Lisa in “Das Land des Lächelns” (The Land of Smiles). At the Stadttheater Heidelberg Sybille Witkowski, likewise, took on a main role at a moment’s notice, that of Frida in the world premiere of “Las cartas de Frida” by Marcela Rodriguez. In between she has given guest performances, concerts and stepped in for other singers. Sybille Witkowski´s current repertoire includes for example Leonore, Senta, The Empress, Isolde,Turandot, Brünnhilde and Elektra. Last update: 2019-07-14 21:43:41 +00:00
