Bio: Ulla Kudsk Jensen trained at the Music Conservatory in Aarhus and the Opera Academy in Gothenburg. She continued her studies in New York and Bayreuth, Germany. She works at the Royal Opera in Copenhagen, where she currently has sung the role as Magdalone in the opera ‘Masquerade’ by the famous Danish composer, Carl Nielsen. She also sang the role as Magdalone at Den Fynske Opera in February/March 2017. In Aarhus she recently sang the part as The Mother in Elverskud by Niels W. Gade with Aarhus Symphony Orchestra conducted by Michael Schønwandt. At the Aarhus Summer Opera, she sang the role as Granny in the brand-new opera ‘Laenker’ (Chains) by the Danish composer Svend Hvidtfelt Nielsen. At Den Jyske Opera Ulla sang the part as Starenka in Jenufa. She also sings the roles as Mary in ‘The Flying Dutchman’, Mrs. Quickly in ‘Falstaff’, Ulrica in ‘Un ballo in maschera’, Third Lady in ‘Magic Flute’, Annina in ‘La Traviata’, First Maid in ‘Elektra’, Auntie in ‘PeterGrimes’, Orfred’s Mother in ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ and The Innkeeper in ‘Boris Gudonov’. On the prize-winning DVD of the Wagner Copenhagen Ring, she sang the parts as both Schwertleite in ‘Die Walküre’ and Flosshilde in ‘Götterdämmerung’. Other parts include Grimgerde in ‘Die Walküre’, Mamma Lucia in ‘Cavalleria Rusticana’, Bianca in ‘Rape of Lucretia ‘, Siebel in’ Faust ‘, Glaumvoer in ’Gudrun’s 4th song‘ and Brenda in the Poul Ruders opera ‘Dancer in the Dark’. With leading symphony orchestras she sings the great oratorios such as ‘Christmas Oratorio’, ‘St. John’s Passion’, ‘Mass in B-minor’ and ‘Magnificat’ by J. S. Bach, Verdi’s ‘Requiem’, Mozart’s ‘Requiem’, ‘Stabat Mater’ by Dvorak, Händel’s ‘Israel in Egypt‘, ’Judas Maccabaeus‘ and obviously ’The Messiah’.
