Bio: Vyacheslav Vasilyev was born in the Krasnoyarsk Region of Russia, Siberia. Vasilyev earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in the Krasnoyarsk State Institute of Arts, vocal studies with Professor Ekaterina Iofel and Professor Galina Astanina in 2011. With the following institution, he earned his Master of Arts degree in the N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov Saint-Petersburg State Conservatory, vocal studies with the outstanding professor, russian mezzo-soprano and People’s Artist of the USSR Irina Bogacheva in 2016.
Mr. Vasilyev versatility and vivid stage appearances are evidenced by his performances of pieces such as DON CARLO (Rodrigo, great premiere performed at the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre), AIDA (Amonasro, stage director Alexey Stepanyuk) and QUEEN OF SPADES Prince Yeletsky sharing the stage with russian mezzo-soprano, People’s Artist of Russia Larissa Diadkova as the Countess.
Vasilyev’s season 2018/2019 was a significant one: mainstage work included covering successful debut as Giorgio Germont in Calaudia Solti’s LA TRAVIATA on the new stage of the Mariinsky Theatre under the baton of Mikhail Sinkevich and scene-work as Grigoriy Gryaznoy in the tour performance of the TSAR’S BRIDE opera by Rimsky-Korsakov directed by Vyacheslav Starodubtsev in Zaryadye Concert hall, Moscow under Maestro Valeriy Gergiev baton and then on the new stage of the Mariinsky Theatre. He has received a bunch of positive critic feedback for his magnificent living of the role, expressive melodeclamation and delighted the audience.
Vyacheslav Vasilyev stage works in 2019 also includes Lord Henry Ashton in LUCIA DI LAMMERMOOR by Donizetti directed by Andrea de Rosa and he also appeared several times as Macbeth in Giuseppe Verdi’s MACBETH directed by famous David Mcvicar (conductor Shizuo Kuwahara). Mr. Vasilyev performance experience also includes Robert in Tchaikovsky’s IOLANTA at the Kazan State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre (conductor Alexander Sladkovsky).
Vyacheslav master classes participation experience was crowned in 2014 – 2015 in the Moscow Conservatory and Mikhailovsky Theater conducted by the Russian opera singer, world-famous baritone Dmitry Hvorostovsky. Later, in 2017, he participated in the First International Eurasian Festival of High Classics in the Crimea and then took part in the training project for young opera singers from Russia at L' Académie Lyrique de l'Opéra de Monte-Carlo, under which he attended master classes by the acclaimed masters of classical art: singers Roberto Alagna and José van Dam, conductor Jacques Lacombe, stage director Adriano Sinivia and others.
Vyacheslav’s began his 2020/2021 season on the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre successfully taking part in the prestigious V International Far East Festival ‘Mariinsky’, Vladivostok. His main stage work was Rodrigo in Giuseppe Verdi’s DON CARLO directed by Yuriy Alexandrov (conductor Pavel Smelkov) sharing stage with russian bass Ildar Abdrazakov, then new production of WAR and PEACE by Sergey Prokofiev and including famous Johann Strauss II operetta DIE FLEDERMAUS covering Dr. Falke.
In July 2021 Vyacheslav successfully debuted as Tomsky in the closing season opera QUEEN OF SPADES on the stage of the Stanislavski and Nemirovich-Danchenko Moscow Academic Music Theatre (director Alexander Titel).
Mr. Vasilyev is the holder of various prize awards of such competitions as International Romansiada Competition, V International Shtokolov Vocal Competition, Elena Obraztsova Young Opera Singers Competition, International Una vacanza al mare Competition, International Competition named after Renata Scotto and others.
