Biography
The young mezzo soprano Xiaoyi Xu began her vocal studies in 2006 at the Conservatory Beijing, completing her Bachelor’s Degree in 2010. She continued her training with a Eurasia-Pacific Uninet scholarship at the University for Music and the Performing Arts in Graz, where she studied with Claudia Rüggeberg. While studying in Graz, she began performing roles that included Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro, Dorothea Caccini in Donizetti’s Viva La Mamma, Hänsel in Hänsel und Gretel as well as The Mistress of the Novices in Puccini’s Suor Angelica. Between 2012 and 2014 she was a member of the Opera Studio Graz, where her roles included Second Witch in Dido and Aeneas, Mercédès in Carmen, Meg Page in Falstaff, Hänsel in Hänsel und Gretel, Flora Bervoix in La traviata and the Madrigal Singer in
