Christian Thielemann

The German conductor Christian Thielemann launched his successful career in 1988 as music director of the Nuremberg Staatstheater. In 1997, he returned to his native Berlin where he led the Deutsche Oper until 2004. He was then appointed principal conductor of the Munich Philharmonic until 2011. Thielemann assumed the post of chief conductor of the Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden in 2012 and has also held the position of artistic director of the Salzburg Easter Festival, where the Staatskapelle is house orchestra. In September 2024, he will take on his new function as music director of the Staatsoper and the Staatskapelle Berlin. Since his Bayreuth debut in the summer of 2000, the conductor has returned every year. In 2010, he was additionally appointed musical adviser to the Wagner o
