Everyone knows the story of selfless love and heroism since childhood. Now her characters have gone from the pages of books to the theatrical stage. Opera performers, a choir, an orchestra and ballet dancers helped the audience make a journey into magic. In total, more than two hundred people are involved in the production - all the creative departments of the theater. Despite the fact that "The Story of Kai and Gerda" is designed for a young viewer, there is a place for adult reflections in it.

The protagonist of the opera is, of course, the music that Dmitry Dmitrievich wrote in the terrible years of 1941-1943, when his relatives remained in besieged Leningrad and he, of course, worried about them. Yes, here he also wrote the "Leningrad" symphony, which also brought victory closer in an artistic sense. And the ballet to this music is also staged in our theater, - says the artistic director of the Samara Opera and Ballet Theater and the conductor of the performance Evgeny Khokhlov. - But in Kuibyshev, Shostakovich also wrote such an unusual work as the opera "Players", referring to the work of Gogol for the second time, the first was "The Nose". What made him stop working on the essay, why, apart from those closest to him, no one knew about him for a long time? These are open questions.
