Biography
The spanish soprano María Zapata completed her studies at the Escuela Superior de Canto de Madrid and continued her studies at Centre de Perfeccionament Plácido Domingo at Palau de les Arts (Valencia). She took part in masterclasses with Dalton Baldwin, Antón García-Abril, Wolfang Rieger, Charles Spencer, Davide Livermore, Rolando Panerai. In 2013 Ms Zapata won the Denise Duval award at the Positively Poulenc Competition in New York. She also won the First Prize in the Villa de Colmenar Viejo, Luis Mariano and Logroño's International Sing Competitions. Ms Zapata is the recipient of the Angel Vegas Scholarship, given by Amigos de la Ópera de Madrid in both 2013 and 2014 at the Académie Internationale de Nize.
