Nicolas Courjal

Nicolas Courjal studied with mezzo Jane Berbié and then with Didier Laclau-Barrère. He started his career in the ensembles of the Paris Opéra-Comique then of the Wiesbaden Theatre. Since then, he has appeared in almost all French theatres including Paris Opéra-Bastille and Théâtre du Châtelet, as well as other prestigious places such as Teatro alla Scala di Milano, Teatro La Fenice di Venezia, Sferisterio di Macerata, La Maestranza di Sevilla, Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Chorégies d’Orange, Grand-Théâtre de Genève, Opéra de Lausanne, Opéra de Monte-Carlo as well as in Russia and in Japan. He sings all the lead roles of the bass repertoire including Filippo Don Carlo, King Mark Tristan und Isolde, Gremin Eugen Onegin, Fiesco Simone Boccanegra, Pimen Boris Godunov, Basilio Il Barbiere
