Opera Tampa is the resident opera company of the David A. Straz, Jr., Center for the Performing Arts. Founded in 1996 by Judy Lisi and Maestro Anton Coppola, Opera Tampa produces and presents the highest caliber of grand opera featuring international performers, the full Opera Tampa Orchestra and the Opera Tampa Chorus. In addition to full-scale mainstage productions, Opera Tampa presents a variety of special events including performances by the Opera Tampa Singers, pre- and post-performance receptions, the popular open rehearsals, LIVE! in the Park, the informative Discover Opera programs, The D’Angelo Young Artists Vocal Competition and the elegant Opera Tampa Gala.

Opera Tampa and The Florida Orchestra last performed together in 2002, but following the pandemic both organizations felt now is the right time to reunite.

For more than 25 years, Opera Tampa has served as the resident opera company of the Straz Center providing breathtaking productions and exemplary educational outreach opportunities to the Tampa Bay area.

Opera Tampa’s elaborate, full-scale productions feature world-class conductors, vocalists and award-winning designers who collaborate to produce and present the highest caliber of grand opera, complete with all the spectacle and grandeur that makes opera "the queen of the performing arts."
