The refined and minimalist decorations, the light compositions so specific to the director's universe, lend themselves perfectly to the story of the cruel Princess, daughter of the Emperor of an immemorial China. A show constructed like paintings, some borrowed directly from the Noh theater whose ritualized gestures magnify the group scenes, others, burlesque, carried by the comic trio of Ping, Pang and Pong.
