The successful piece "The Sound of Music" is back on the program of the State Theater. Almost exactly 10 years to the day after the musical was brought to Salzburg for the first time in October 2011 and media reported about it worldwide, the touching love story between Baron von Trapp and the nanny Maria is returning with a new cast. Musical star Lukas Perman could be won for the role of Baron von Trapp, who can thus be experienced in his hometown. Trained at the Mozarteum Salzburg and at the Vienna Conservatory, he made his debut in the musical "Elisabeth" at the Theater an der Wien while studying. Numerous engagements in leading roles followed - among others. at the Vereinigte Bühnen Wien, the Wiener Volksoper, the Bühne Baden. Outside of the German-speaking area, Lukas Perman was often engaged in Japan. The ensemble member and musical performer Patrizia Unger can be seen in the role of Maria. The musical by Richard Rodgers (music), Oscar Hammerstein II (lyrics) and Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse (book) premiered on November 16, 1959 at the Lunt-Fontanne Theater in New York. Based on the musical, the film of the same name with Julie Andrews was shot in 1965, partly on original locations in Salzburg - it has so far reached 1.2 billion viewers all over the world. The staging by Andreas Gergen and Christian Struppeck has exceeded all expectations with its precise and loving leadership and its kitsch-free approach and has long since become a cult. The musical “The Sound of Music” will be played with a break due to its length of around 3 hours . Due to the current corona situation, we are unfortunately unable to offer adequate catering in the small foyer space in the State Theater.
