The carnival and lagoon city of Venice provides the backdrop for this feel-good piece from Vienna's heyday by the "Waltz King" and the most famous Viennese par excellence, Johann Strauss. Three old senators with three adventurous women, a charming duke who captivates all women with the seductive rhythm of his gondola song, a faithful barber, a macaroni cook and a desirable fisher girl are the ingredients of an old recipe in which hidden identities behind the colorful Venetian masks cause confusion and somehow lead to the obligatory "lieto fine" in the disguise game, entanglements and confusion without end - after all it is an operetta: "All masked where fun, where madness and lust reigns!"

The Austrian director and actor Thomas Weber-Schallauer, who is working as a director at the Meiningen State Theater for the first time, leads us through this rushing, dancing confusion.
