With his 5th Symphony in B flat major, Anton Bruckner left his magnum opus to posterity. With a pure playing time of almost 80 minutes, his Fifth is one of the most extensive and monumental works of symphonic music. In this symphony, the composer is completely at one with himself and the music, and does not allow any well-meaning friend or colleague to interfere. He allowed the work to mature for a total of five long years before presenting it to the public, reworking it again and again in great detail and happily calling it his contrapuntal masterpiece.

"For me, the fact that Bruckner existed is the greatest gift from God," said the great Bruckner conductor Sergiu Celibidache. Whoever hears this symphony can only agree with him. The symphony, which posterity likes to call a "work of faith", will be conducted by Prof. Georg Fritzsch, currently General Music Director at the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe, to mark Anton Bruckner's 200th birthday at the start of the jubilee year.

Mit seiner 5. Sinfonie in B-Dur hat Anton Bruckner der Nachwelt sein opus magnum hinterlassen. Mit einer reinen Spielzeit von knapp 80 Minuten zählt seine Fünfte mit zu den umfangreichsten und monumentalsten Werken der sinfonischen Musik. In dieser Sinfonie ist der Komponist ganz bei sich und der Musik, lässt sich von keinem wohlmeinenden Freund oder Kollegen hineinreden. Insgesamt fünf lange Jahre ließ er das Werk in sich reifen, bevor er es der Öffentlichkeit vorstellte, arbeitete es immer wieder detailreich um und bezeichnete es gerne als sein kontrapunktisches Meisterwerk.
