De Roemeense operaster Angela Gheorghiu is een van de grote sopranen van deze tijd. In 1992 maakte ze haar internationaal debuut in het Royal Opera House. Daarna ging het met haar carrière steil omhoog: in London zong ze datzelfde jaar nog Mimi (La bohème) en aan de Wiener Staatsoper Adina (L’elisir d’amore). Nauwelijks een jaar later maakte ze haar debuut in de Metropolitan Opera en sindsdien is ze wereldwijd in titelrollen te horen.

The Romanian opera star Angela Gheorghiu is one of the great sopranos of our time. In 1992 she made her international debut at the Royal Opera House.
