Théâtre (la scène de la Comédie-Française), amour et vengeance (deux femmes éprises du même homme) s’entremêlent sur une partition brillante. Adapté de la vie romancée de la grande comédienne éponyme du Français qui triompha en son temps dans Racine et Corneille, l’ouvrage de Cilea illustre avec brio la confrontation des deux rivales les plus poignantes du répertoire vériste. Adriana (Elena Stikhina) et la Princesse de Bouillon (Clémentine Margaine, immense Carmen sur toutes les grandes scènes à travers le monde) se disputent donc les faveurs d’un même homme, Maurice (Brian Jagde). Ce sera donc l’occasion de retrouver le couple Stikhina-Jagde qui a ensemble triomphé dans une récente Tosca à l’Opéra de Paris. La soprano russe est de toute beauté dans les emplois de grande soprano lyrique tandis que le ténor américain a fait briller son timbre soyeux sur les plus grandes scènes. Rencontre au sommet assurée.

Elena Stikhina is one of the most acclaimed singers of our time and has been celebrated in the greatest opera houses in the world, between London, New York, Paris, Milan, Vienna and Munich, in the roles of Tosca, Butterfly, Aida, Leonora in La Force du destin, but also in those of Salomé and Sieglinde in La Valkyrie. Today, the Russian soprano will sing for the first time the title role of Adriana Lecouvreur, where an actress is the victim of a tragic destiny... This opera by Francesco Cilea was created in Milan in 1902, quickly conquered public success, and has since appeared in the repertoire of major opera houses. In a tight plot, where two women discover their love rivalry, the sovereign voices of an international cast are magnified by a colorful orchestra.
Cilea's music carries her listeners away in a lyrical torrent.
