Aida

Description: Le rive del Nilo, vicino al tempio di Iside. Tenuto in ostaggio insieme alla figlia Aida, il Re etiope medita una vendetta per la sconfitta subita e costringe la figlia a farsi rivelare da Radamès la posizione dell'esercito egizio. Radamès ha solo apparentemente consentito di diventare il marito di Amneris e, fidandosi di Aida, durante la conversazione in cui decidono di fuggire insieme, le rivela per incauta confidenza le informazioni richieste dal padre. Rimasto nei paraggi origliando la conversazione, Amonasro rivela la sua identità e, all'arrivo delle guardie, fugge con Aida. Disperato per avere involontariamente tradito il suo Faraone e la sua patria, Radamès si consegna prigioniero al sommo sacerdote.

Description: The banks of the Nile, near the temple of Isis. Held hostage together with his daughter Aida, the Ethiopian King contemplates revenge for the defeat and forces his daughter to let Radamès reveal the position of the Egyptian army. Radamès has only apparently allowed to become Amneris' husband and, trusting Aida, during the conversation in which they decide to flee together, he reveals to her the information requested by her father through careless confidence. Remaining nearby eavesdropping on the conversation, Amonasro reveals his identity and, when the guards arrive, runs away with Aida. Desperate for having unintentionally betrayed his Pharaoh and his homeland, Radamès surrenders himself as a prisoner to the high priest.
