For several years, with the Lyrica choir,
Facundo Agudin and Rubén Amoretti, we
let's go up to the Passage of the famous operas
(Don Carlo, Tosca, Mefistofele or Faust) that we
presented in Switzerland but also in Spain and
in France. Thanks to a co-production with Italy and
Spain, we were able to approach Aida this season
which, to our knowledge, has never been presented
in our county. A crazy bet since the show
brings together a dozen soloists, nearly a
sixty musicians, a hundred singers,
dancers, extras, and about twenty collaborators
artistic and technical. Many Neuchâtel residents
find themselves in the distribution alongside singers
from Italy, Spain but also from Mexico and Russia.

Giuseppe Verdi was born in 1813 near Parma, in
Italy. Of humble origins, but not as much as he
was pleased to claim it, he is taking his first steps
in music with the village organist. Talented,
he leaves for Milan where his contacts allow him to
produce his first opera in 1839, Oberto. the
success is such that he gets a contract for three more
operas, including Nabucco (1842) which triumphed at La Scala.
Between 1851 and 1853, Verdi created his "popular trilogy",
with the three masterpieces Rigoletto, Le trouvère and
La traviata, which further reinforce its popularity. After
several years spent in Paris, he tried his hand at
opera with Les vêpres siciliennes in 1855. Will follow
six other operas, including Aida, premiered in 1871. In his
recent years, he has produced two major works, Otello
(1887) and Falstaff (1893), before dying in Milan
in 1901. Both during his lifetime and posthumously, the
notoriety of Verdi in the lyrical world remains unequaled

s’est plu à le prétendre, il fait ses premiers pas
en musique auprès de l’organiste du village. Talentueux,
il part pour Milan où ses contacts lui permettent de
faire produire son premier opéra en 1839, Oberto. Le
succès est tel qu’il obtient un contrat pour trois autres
opéras, dont Nabucco (1842) qui triomphe à la Scala.
