Dalla morte allo smarrimento e alla vita: la serata inizia con la Tragische Ouvertüre di Johannes Brahms, che pur senza un soggetto determinato, crea con il suo tema tormentato un'atmosfera di gravità e tragedia. Nu.Mu.Zu, ovvero dall'antico sumero 'Io non lo so', è il titolo del brano del compositore georgiano Giya Kancheli: più che un non sapere, però, indica un non riuscire a comprendere. 'Quando ero giovane credevo di fare qualcosa che capivo' ha dichiarato il compositore 'adesso che ho 80 anni mi rendo conto che non so nulla, che non riesco a capire cosa stia accadendo nel mondo, come mai ci siano eventi così inquietanti'. Per questo motivo il brano è stato eseguito dalla Seattle Symphony Orchestra nel novembre 2015 dopo gli attentati terroristici di Parigi. A completare il programma della serata, Psyché, poema sinfonico di César Franck che usa i miti greci per parlare di amore e vita, scontrandosi con la moglie che riteneva il brano 'troppo sensuale'.
