The Russian soprano Anna Netrebko has dominated the world’s most prestigious stages for a number of years, ever since she was discovered by the celebrated Russian maestro Valery Gergiev. She debuted as Susanna in Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro and went on to dazzle audiences in the most important soprano roles. She has performed in all the most important concert halls around the world. Passionate enthusiasm and hard work have brought her to a vocal maturity that now enables her to take on the major roles in the works of Verdi and Wagner. She also makes frequent forays into the repertoire of the late Romantic period. Some years ago the New York Times described her stage presence as something that is “very rare”. She was also the first classical musician to appear in Time magazine’s list of the hundred most influential people in the world. She is one of the most prominent soloists recording for the record label Deutsche Grammophon, while thanks to her charisma and her presence on social media, she has also become one of today’s essential musical “influencers”. She will be joined on stage by the Azerbaijani tenor Yusif Eyvazov, one of the most in-demand and sought-after tenors of his generation. Since completing his studies in Italy, he has gone from success to success in major roles at the most prestigious opera houses and festivals around the world.
The iconic pair will be accompanied at this concert by the RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra conducted by Michelangelo Mazza, who made his operatic debut at the Theatro Municipal de São Paulo in Brazil. International success led him to a collaboration with the famous operatic duo, with whom he has worked closely for a number of years.
