Boys and Youth Choir Cantus Children's Music School im. J. Haydn is a unique group whose singers are mostly boys aged 8 to 16 years. The founder of the choir and its permanent leader is Alexandra Samokhvalova, a graduate of the Moscow Conservatory, laureate of all-Russian and international competitions. The Cantus choir is guided by the traditions of Russian choral performance from the time of the Synodal School; The ensemble's concert repertoire consists of the best examples of Russian sacred music, works by Russian and Western European classics (including the cantata-oratorio genre), arrangements of folk songs, works by contemporary authors, etc. The Cantus choir is the winner of several all-Russian and international choral competitions, the owner of the Grand Prix title of the major choral competition named after. S. Kazachkov (Kazan), confirming the title of "Leading team of Moscow" for several years. The Boys and Youth Choir CANTUS takes an active part in the concert life of Moscow, performing at the leading concert venues of the capital: at the Moscow Conservatory, at the MMDM, at the Cathedral of St. Peter and Paul, in the Concert Hall of the Crocus City Hall, etc. Actively collaborates with the best choirs of the capital: the State Architectural Complex of Russia conducted by V. Polyansky, the Kastalsky Male Chamber Choir, the State Academic Russian Choir. A. Sveshnikov, the Sretensky Monastery Choir, the Male Chamber Choir conducted by V. Rybin, the Antonio-Orchestra Chamber Orchestra. Igor Podoplelov was born in Kirov. Studied at the College of Music. A. N. Scriabin and V. S. Popov AHI. In 2019 he was accepted as an intern in the troupe of the Bolshoi Theater of Russia. Currently Podoplelov is a guest soloist of the Bolshoi Theatre. He made his debut at the Bolshoi Theater as Aeneas (Purcell's Dido and Aeneas), Schonar (Puccini's La Bohème), Silvano (Verdi's Un ballo in maschera) Lebedev (Weinberg's Idiot). In August 2021, he became a laureate of the Opera Bella festival competition.
