Caravaggio was to revolutionize art history around 1600 with his often drastic depictions of biblical figures. At the same time he had a high criminal energy. The internationally acclaimed vocal ensemble Cappella Mariana from Prague, conducted by Vojtech Semerád, is now dedicating a gripping sound portrait to this early Baroque master. For painting projections, it follows Caravaggio on his most important artistic paths and stages of life, based on groundbreaking works by Monteverdi and Gesualdo, for example.

Mit seinen oftmals drastischen Darstellungen biblischer Gestalten sollte Caravaggio um 1600 die Kunstgeschichte revolutionieren. Zugleich besaß er ein hohe kriminelle Energie. Diesem frühbarocken Meister widmet das aus Prag stammende, international gefeierte Vokalensemble Cappella Mariana unter der Leitung von Vojtech Semerád nun ein packendes Klangporträt. Denn zu Gemälde-Projektionen folgt es Caravaggio anhand bahnbrechender Werke etwa von Monteverdi und Gesualdo auf seinen wichtigsten künstlerischen Wegen und Lebensstationen.
