Carmina Burana was composed by Carl Orff in 1937 and is one of the best known and most performed works in the classical repertoire. Orff was based on a collection of medieval poems written mostly in Latin, German and French, in which the pleasure of living, the interest in earthly pleasures, carnal love and the enjoyment of nature are extolled, always with a critical and satirical look towards the social and ecclesiastical classes of the time. A vital, energetic, magical work and, without a doubt, the best known of its author. The interpretation will be carried out by the Orfeón Pamplonés, which includes this work as one of the jewels of its repertoire, and the Madrid Symphony Orchestra, founded in 1903 and the first stable symphony orchestra in Spain. Since 1997 it has been the Principal Orchestra of the Royal Theater of Madrid.
