On December 25, the State Academic Symphony Orchestra of the Republic of Belarus , under the baton of the chief conductor, People's Artist of Belarus Alexander Anisimov , is invited to celebrate Christmas at the Big Concert Hall of the Belarusian State Philharmonic. The program of the evening will include two monumental compositions: the First Piano Concerto by Pyotr Tchaikovsky performed by the laureate of international competitions Andrey Sikorsky and “Stabat Mater” by Gioacchino Rossini, which will also be performed by the State Academic Choir. “I congratulate you all on the first Russian piano concerto, wrote it Pyotr Ilyich,” Sergei Ivanovich Taneyev joyfully informed his friends in the spring of 1875 about the Tchaikovsky concerto. Of course, he knew that by this time all five piano concertos by Anton Rubinstein had already been created - some of them are excellent - but he wrote the "first Russian". The young Tchaikovsky caught that important, but so difficult to put into words, that makes a work in one genre or another a national classic. Having conceived this composition, Tchaikovsky assumed that Nikolai Rubinstein would become its first performer, but he was critical of the composition. The composer made corrections, including changing the dedication, and sent the score to Hans von Bülow. The famous German pianist became the first performer of the concerto, presenting it in Boston in 1875. The Russian public heard the work performed by Gustav Kross in St. Petersburg and Sergei Taneyev in Moscow. Since then, the musical quotes from the concert have spread all over the world.
