The Athens State Orchestra contributes to the festive spirit of the holiday season with a performance of one of JS Bach's most popular works, the Christmas Oratorio. The Oratorio is less focused on telling the story of the Nativity than it is on conveying the spirit of Christ's arrival in the world and spreading its eternal message of joy. An introspective work with moments of grandeur, the Oratorio proves that existential joy doesn’t need to shout to draw attention to itself... Under the baton of George Petrou, outstanding singers from Greece and abroad invite us to enjoy this Christmas with the requisite beauty and spirituality.

Η Κρατική Ορχήστρα Αθηνών συμμετέχει στο εορταστικό πνεύμα των άγιων ημερών παρουσιάζοντας ένα από τα δημοφιλέστερα έργα του μεγάλου Κάντορα, το Ορατόριο των Χριστουγέννων. Το Ορατόριο δεν επικεντρώνεται τόσο στο να αφηγηθεί τα γεγονότα της Θείας Γέννησης όσο στο να αποδώσει το πνεύμα της έλευσης του Ιησού στον κόσμο και να μεταφέρει με τον δικό του τρόπο το αιώνια χαρμόσυνο μήνυμά της. Στιγμές μεγαλοπρέπειας διανθίζουν ένα έργο εσωστρεφές· η υπαρξιακή χαρά δεν έχει ανάγκη να κραυγάσει… Εκλεκτοί Έλληνες και ξένοι λυρικοί τραγουδιστές υπό την διεύθυνση του μαέστρου Γιώργου Πέτρου μάς καλούν να γιορτάσουμε τα φετινά Χριστούγεννα με την ομορφιά και την πνευματικότητα που τους αρμόζει.
