José R. Pascual-Vilaplana dirigeix el tradicional concert de Nadal de la BMB amb una selecció de músiques originals per a orquestra d’instruments de vent escrites a finals del segle XX i principis del XXI.

Aquest repertori, majoritàriament de compositors estatunidencs, té un caràcter eminentment festiu. Obre el concert el britànic Philip Sparke, amb la seva Celebration, i s’hi uneixen Clifton Williams, amb la premiada Fanfare and Allegro, i A Celebration Overture del cinematogràfic Bruce Broughton.

Es fa també la primera audició de Dark Life of the Night Girl, l’obra per a narrador i banda de la compositora Theresa Martin que explica la història d’una noia amb una rara malaltia a la pell que li impedeix sortir al sol.

Segueixen un conjunt de peces de temàtica nadalenca, com Fantasia for Christmas, d’Elliot del Borgo, i Glòria i The Night before Christmas, de Randol Alan Bass. No podien faltar a la cita les ja imprescindibles Nadales catalanes de Salvador Brotons.

José R. Pascual-Vilaplana dirige el tradicional concierto de Navidad de la BMB con una selección de músicas originales para orquesta de instrumentos de viento escritas a finales del siglo XX y principios del XXI.

Este repertorio, mayoritariamente de compositores estadounidenses, tiene un carácter eminentemente festivo. Abre el concierto el británico Philip Sparke, con su Celebration, al que se unen Clifton Williams, con la premiada Fanfare and Allegro, y A Celebration Overture del cinematográfico Bruce Broughton.

Se ofrece también la primera audición de Dark Life of the Night Girl (La vida oscura de la chica de la noche), la obra para narrador y banda de la compositora Theresa Martin que cuenta la historia de una chica con una rara enfermedad en la piel que le impide salir al sol.

Siguen un conjunto de piezas de temática navideña, como Fantasia for Christmas, de Elliot del Borgo, y Gloria y The Night before Christmas (La noche antes de Navidad), de Randol Alan Bass. No podían faltar a la cita las ya imprescindibles Nadales catalanes (villancicos catalanes) de Salvador Brotons.

José R. Pascual-Vilaplana conducts the Band in their traditional Christmas concert with a selection of original music for wind orchestra written at the end of the 20th and beginning of the 21st centuries.

This programme, predominantly featuring American composers, has a truly festive feel. The concert opens with Celebration by British composer Philip Sparke, followed by the award-winning Fanfare and Allegro by Clifton Williams, and A Celebration Overture by film composer Bruce Broughton.

The programme will also include the first performance of Dark Life of the Night Girl, a work for narrator and concert band by composer Theresa Martin that tells the story of a little girl with a rare skin disease making exposure to the sun fatal.

Then follows a collection of pieces with a Christmas theme, including Fantasia for Christmas, arranged by Elliot del Borgo, and Gloria and The Night before Christmas, by Randol Alan Bass. Finally, the concert would not be complete without the Nadales Catalanes (Catalan Christmas Carols) by Salvador Brotons.
