The 19th century had tried to condemn Così  to oblivion. He reproached him for his immorality. In fact, the work is one of the most beautiful jewels of the libertine current, certainly originally rather literary but which won all of enlightened Europe and which nourished many other artistic fields. Frivolous, inconsistent… And misogynistic: the opera was then laden with almost all the faults. And yet, Mozart has never been so tender and sensual. The libretto delights in permutations and offers Mozart a wide variety of situations and vocal ensembles. The recklessness of youth challenged by fidelity or the perfect manual of "beloved knowledge"? To each his own answer.

Le XIXe siècle avait tenté de condamner Così à l’oubli. Il lui reprochait son immoralité. De fait, l’ouvrage est l’un des plus beaux fleurons du courant libertin, certes à l’origine plutôt littéraire mais qui gagna toute l’Europe éclairée et qui nourrit bien d’autres domaines artistiques. Frivole, inconsistant… Et misogyne : l’opéra fut alors chargé de tous les défauts ou presque. Et pourtant, Mozart n’a jamais été aussi tendre et sensuel. Le livret se délecte de permutations et offre à Mozart une grande variété de situations et d’ensemble vocaux. L’insouciance de la jeunesse mise au défi de la fidélité ou le parfait manuel de « savoir-aimé » ? A chacun sa réponse.
