Who was the mentor of one of the greatest conductors of our time? Riccardo Muti, who will turn 83 in the summer of 2024, received decisive support at a young age from his composition teacher, Nino Rota, the legendary composer of Fellini, Visconti and Zeffirelli's films. His current orchestra, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, conducts an exciting program at the Müpa: the evening's program features a new work by Philip Glass representing a popular branch of contemporary music, while a piece each by Mendelssohn and Richard Strauss represents the chapter of German music that conquers with its Italian colors and temperament.

The Chicago Symphony Orchestra has been operating since 1891, and its chief music directors include musicians such as Rafael Kubelík, Reiner Frigyes, György Solti, Daniel Barenboim, and Bernard Haitink. (The orchestra's two performances at the newly opened Müpa in 2005, conducted by Pierre Boulez and Daniel Barenboim, are unforgettable.) Riccardo Muti has been at the helm of the Chicagoans since 2010. One of the most significant chapters of the versatile conductor's career was connected to Milan's Scala, but he maintains an equally fruitful relationship with E with the biggest bands of Europe and America from Berlin to Vienna, from Philadelphia to New York.
