At the beginning, empty fifths and tremoli ring out like shrill sirens; lightning strikes, the orchestra sounds coarse and explosive. This is mirrored by director Martin Kušej's approach – he brazenly rummages through the plot, reinterpreting several major details, including the ending. You won't find any romanticized seafaring antics here, but instead an ambitious staging concept that merges with the music.
