The operetta The Count of Luxembourg, written by F. Lehar 4 years after the triumphant The Merry Widow, was a great success with the public. First staged at the Vienna Theater An der Wien on November 12, 1909, it is still one of the repertoire performances of many theaters. In Russia, the first production of The Count of Luxembourg took place already in the winter of 1909 at the St. Petersburg theater "Winter Buff".

Carnival in Paris. In the workshop of the artist Rene von Luxembourg - by the way, the count - bohemia is having fun. Here, the stunning news is publicly announced: the singer Angele Didier, for whom all Paris is going crazy, is getting married to the old prince. But the prince wants to avoid a misalliance with all his might - he offers Count Rene a deal: he receives a large sum and incognito marries Angela in order to immediately divorce her, bestowing the title of countess. So the prince will be able to marry not a singer, but a lady from high society. And everything would have gone smoothly if Cupid had not flown past, which pierced the hearts of the newlyweds as soon as they met
