A husband is to be found for the beautiful, rich and almost adult Julia. Her uncle Josse, who is also her guardian, has clear ideas: it should be his nephew August so that the lavish inheritance stays in the family. Julia, however, longs for her Roderich, to whom she swore allegiance seven years ago. Since then he has been in "Dingsda", more precisely in Batavia. Then suddenly a mysterious and attractive stranger appears. Is that the long-awaited Roderich who has returned from his exotic excursion?
Eduard Künnekes (1885 - 1953) the successful operetta DER -VETTER AUS DINGSDA was created during the heyday of the Berlin operetta. With the latest dances such as foxtrot, paso doble and tango, Künneke pays homage to the dance madness of the Roaring Twenties as well as with the indispensable waltz. The philistine bourgeoisie of the 20th century is taken on the grain here with a lot of puns and situation comedy, so that text and music provide the best entertainment.
