Souvent salué pour ses prestations instrumentales, l’Ensemble Diderot, qui souffle cette année ses quinze bougies, n’en est pas à son premier opéra. Fin 2020, la bande à Johannes Pramsohler faisait entre autres renaître le Crésus de Reinhard Keiser sur la scène de l’Athénée. Point de rareté cette fois-ci, mais un tube plutôt chambriste librement inspiré à Henry Purcell et Nahum Tate par le Chant IV de L’Enéide de Virgile. Si Didon et Enée reste entouré de mystère, il ira comme un gant aux voix du matin. Dans sa langue maternelle, Anna Wall reprend en effet un rôle peaufiné durant les deux années passées au sein de l’Atelier lyrique de l’Opéra de Paris, tandis que Yoann Dubruque réincarne un héros déjà campé à Massy en compagnie de la Belinda d’Apolline Raï-Westphal.

Ensemble Diderot, which is often acclaimed for its instrumental performances and which is celebrating its fifteenth anniversary this year, is no newcomer to opera. In late 2020, Croesus by Reinhard Keiser on the stage of the Athénée was just one of the works revived by Johannes Pramsohler and the group. Not such a rarity this time, but rather a chamber music hit freely inspired by Henry Purcell and Nahum Tate from Canto IV of Virgil’s Aeneid. Although Dido and Aeneas is shrouded in mystery it will fit this morning’s vocalist like a glove. In her mother tongue, Anna Wall reprises a role which she honed in the two years she spent at the Atelier lyrique of the Opéra de Paris, whereas Yoann Dubruque reprises his well-established hero from the Opéra Massy in the company of Apolline Raï-Westphal’s Belinda.
