Tamino im Magen des Drachens, die Königin der Nacht als riesige Spinne, tanzende Sternbilder und fliegende Schmetterlingsknaben – der Zauber, den Die Zauberflöte der Komischen Oper Berlin auf Jung und Alt ausübt, scheint ungebrochen.

Die Zauberflöte scheint mehr Fragen und Rätsel aufzuwerfen, als Antworten zu geben. Am Ende versagen alle Logik und aller Verstand vor der unermesslichen Fantasie dieser Zauberoper. Ihr Geheimnis liegt in tieferen Schichten menschlicher Grunderfahrungen, für die eben das Märchen die angemessene Ausdrucksform zu sein scheint und nur die Musik die passende Sprache findet. The Magic Fluteseems to raise more questions and riddles than answers. In the end, all logic and all reason fail before the immeasurable imagination of this magic opera. Its secret lies in the deeper layers of basic human experience, for which fairy tales seem to be the appropriate form of expression and only music can find the appropriate language. It is not for nothing that the »eponymous hero« of the opera is an instrument, or simply put: the music.
