Tamino accepts the order from the Queen of the Night to free her kidnapped daughter Pamina. As a thank you, Tamino is to marry Pamina, with whose picture he has fallen in love. Accompanied by the whimsical bird catcher Papageno, who is also looking for a bride, Tamino makes his way to Prince Sarastro, the kidnapper. Tamino soon found his beloved and is loved again. But Sarastro thwarts the escape. However, the prince turns out to be not the violent villain described by the queen, but a wise ruler. He predicts that Pamina and Tamino are made for each other. Instead of punishing the two for attempting to escape, Sarastro puts trials on them. They should make sacrifices and survive dangers of death. Pass the exams Sarastro would like to include her in the circle of his initiates. The Queen of the Night sees herself betrayed and demands that Pamina kill Sarastro. But Pamina has now also gained confidence in Sarastro. Tamino faces the trials with his companion Papageno. He does not receive the highest orders, but his bride Papagena does. Tamino and Pamina, on the other hand, achieve their goal and become a couple.

The Magic Flute has been captivating people of all ages for 231 years . This musical theater fairy tale about the victory of love and wisdom over intrigue and power thinking appeals to audiences across the ages. You can get over the logical breaks or the very time-bound characterizations of the characters that the theater entrepreneur Emanuel Schikaneder put on paper. All the more so since the music lifts the magic fairy tale out of its time: Mozart unfolds the unbelievable richness of his imagination in order to let the fairy tale characters become human beings in song.
