Having lived for a long time in Bavaria and Central Europe, it was inevitable that he would be nurtured in the spirit of German (Late) Romantic music, which is reflected in most of his compositions. The "Patras Philharmonic Orchestra" presented the composer of Patras origin Dimitrios Lialios and an unknown work to the audience of classical music on Palm Sunday, April 9, 2017.

Lialios was born in Patras in 1869 and studied music in Munich, Bavaria, as a student of one of the most important theorists of the 19th century, Ludwig Thuille, who was also a personal friend of Richard Strauss. He composed works in all kinds of art music and served for many decades as Consul of Greece in Munich. The concert of "Philharmonic" will present for the first time a world performance "Liturgy to the Sleeping" (Missa pro defunctis or Requiem), a young and hitherto completely unknown work of the composer.

The concert also includes two short "agreements" for string orchestra of Greek composer Joseph Michael Stratico . Born in Zara, Dalmatia to a Chian mother, Stratico was a student of Tartini, a composer of the period from the mid to late 18th century, the so-called Proclassic, dominated by the Enlightenment. This composer was first introduced to the Greek public by the Philharmonic about two months ago.
