It is difficult to find meaning, logic or rationalism in operetta, after all, that is not what it is about. It's no different at NIGHT IN VENICE; the intricacies of the libretto create implausible and surprising situations, and together with the often irrational reactions of the characters, they bring humor and fun. This classic operetta by the Viennese composer forms, together with Die Fledermaus and The Gypsy Baron, a master triad of the genre. You can find in it everything that is most pleasing to the eye, ear and spirit. For the Viennese king of the waltz, the libretto again became a pretext to create music sparkling with wit, spectacular arias and spectacular group scenes. And all this in the extraordinary scenery of the Venetian carnival with its mystery, elaborate masks and costumes out of this world.

Our latest production only emphasizes the cheerful character of the work, and the creators of the staging in Łódź seem to play with the possibilities of form, not avoiding referring to classical solutions in the interpretation and building the stage space of this fantastic operetta.

Trudno w operetce doszukiwać się sensu, logiki czy racjonalizmu, nie o to wszak w niej chodzi. Nie inaczej jest w NOC W WENECJI; zawiłości libretta stwarzają nieprawdopodobne i zaskakujące sytuacje, a wraz z często irracjonalnymi reakcjami bohaterów przynoszą humor i zabawę. Ta klasyczna operetka wiedeńskiego kompozytora tworzy wraz z ZEMSTĄ NIETOPERZA i BARONEM CYGAŃSKIM mistrzowską triadę gatunku. Znaleźć w niej można wszystko to, co najprzyjemniejsze dla oka, ucha i ducha. Dla wiedeńskiego króla walca libretto i tym razem stało się jedynie pretekstem do stworzenia iskrzącej się dowcipem muzyki, efektownych arii i popisowych scen zbiorowych. A wszystko w niezwykłej scenerii weneckiego karnawału z jego tajemniczością, wymyślnymi maskami i kostiumami jak nie z tego świata.

Nasza najnowsza realizacja tylko podkreśla wesoły charakter dzieła, a twórcy łódzkiej inscenizacji zdają się bawić możliwościami formy, nie unikając przy tym nawiązywania do klasycznych rozwiązań w interpretacji i budowania przestrzeni scenicznej tej fantastycznej operetki.
