Klangforum Wien is the resident ensemble at this year's edition of the Zagreb Music Biennale. It is a contemporary music ensemble founded in 1985 by the Austrian composer and conductor Beat Furrer. The ensemble presented around 60 premieres of works by internationally recognized composers and made more than 90 discographic releases, and its performances took place in some of the most famous concert and opera venues and as part of the program of major festivals in Europe, America and Asia.

As a residence ensemble, it will have a large part in MBZ's program, so, in addition to this concert, it will participate as a mentor ensemble at a workshop for young performers of new music (concert of the ASMANGU ensemble) and hold another independent concert at the Zagreb Youth Theatre, before which there will also be a conversation with its artistic director and guest composers. Over the course of several days, the Močvara Club will also host musical portraits, i.e. conversations with members of the ensemble along with their short solo performance.

In the context of this performance, the ensemble will be joined by the French mezzo-soprano Laura Muller. Muller also graduated in French literature from the Sorbonne University, and her singing repertoire includes early music, Lied and oratorios. She is also interested in contemporary music, so she participates in the vocal ensemble Les Métaboles, which specializes in 21st century music, and in the ensemble Sequenza 9.3.

The repertoire includes compositions by some of the greatest living composers of new music, as well as a new work by the French composer Franck Bedrossian, which will have its concert premiere on this occasion. Franck Bedrossian, who came from a strong tradition that emphasizes harmony, shows in his works different principles of development of sound reflection. By creating numerous sonic layers of musical material ranging from noise to pure melodies, the ambiguity of the inner sonic world is created. Complex polyphonic structures form textures that constantly interact with the general idea of ​​timbre-melody, shaping the dramaturgy through the articulation of excess.
