He never allowed himself to be persuaded to jump ahead in his career. But meanwhile Piotr Beczała has reached the zenith of his singing career. The »vincerò«, »I will win«, from Puccini's »Turandot« has come true for him: With the beguiling timbre of his tenor and flawless technique, he now lets the stars shine everywhere, whether at the Scala in Milan, the Vienna State Opera or the Metropolitan Opera in New York, whether at the Salzburg Festival or on the Green Hill in Bayreuth. It was not for nothing that he received the "Austrian Music Theater Prize" in 2021 for the best male lead in Stanisław Moniuszko's "Halka", a production of the Theater an der Wien, and was voted "Singer of the Year" by Opus Klassik. Even after the most powerful vocalization, he effortlessly manages to take it back to a beguiling piano. Despite flights of fancy, he always keeps his feet on the ground and thus a great deal of naturalness - and that in a repertoire that includes Italian as well as French, Slavic or German roles. Accompanied by the RSO Vienna under the direction of Marco Boemi, with whom he has already recorded a CD with verismo arias, the Polish-Swiss singer will perform »Great Voices« for an evening in the Great Hall of the Vienna Konzerthaus.

Zu vorschnellen Karrieresprüngen hat er sich nie überreden lassen. Aber mittlerweile ist Piotr Beczała am Zenit seiner sängerischen Karriere angelangt. Das »vincerò«, »ich werde siegen«, aus Puccinis »Turandot« hat sich für ihn bewahrheitet: Mit dem betörenden Timbre seines Tenors und makelloser Technik lässt er nun allenthalben die Sterne leuchten, ob an der Mailänder Scala, der Wiener Staatsoper oder der Metropolitan Opera in New York, ob bei den Festspielen in Salzburg oder auf dem Grünen Hügel in Bayreuth. Nicht umsonst erhielt er 2021 den »Österreichischen Musiktheaterpreis« für die beste männliche Hauptrolle in Stanisław Moniuszkos »Halka«, einer Pro-duk¬tion des Theater an der Wien, und wurde von Opus Klassik zum »Sänger des Jahres« gewählt. Selbst nach kraftvollster Stimmgebung gelingt ihm mühelos eine Zurücknahme in betörendes Piano. Trotz Höhenflügen behält er immer Bodenhaftung und damit ein großes Maß an Natürlichkeit – und das in einem Repertoire, das italienische ebenso wie französische, slawische oder deutsche Rollen umfasst. Begleitet vom RSO Wien unter der Leitung von Marco Boemi, mit dem er bereits eine CD mit Verismo-Arien eingespielt hat, bestreitet der polnisch-schweizerische Sänger im Rahmen von »Great Voices« einen Abend im Großen Saal des Wiener Konzerthauses.
