Grigory Sokolov heeft een bijzondere band met het Belgische publiek. We zijn blij de maestro elk jaar opnieuw te mogen verwelkomen om mooie muziekmomenten te delen. Op 12 december staat er ons weer zo'n magisch moment te wachten, wanneer Grigory Sokolov zijn programma opbouwt rond de muziek van Mozart. Spanning maakt in zekere zin deel uit van het spel, aangezien hij, zoals gewoonlijk, zijn keuze van werken voor zich houdt en slechts een tipje van de sluier oplicht. Er zit niets anders op dan te wachten tot het begin van het seizoen om het volledige programma te kennen! Zijn recente concerten in Bozar hebben ons er opnieuw van overtuigd dat Sokolov een van de grootste pianisten van vandaag is en dat zijn innerlijke wereld, die hij in muziek omzet, een onuitputtelijke bron van inspiratie is.

Amnesty International is een wereldwijde beweging die opkomt voor mensenrechten. Op 10 december 2023 is het 75 jaar geleden dat de Universele Verklaring van de Rechten van de Mens werd opgesteld. Een hele reeks rechten zijn gebaseerd op deze referentietekst, die ook vandaag beschermd moeten worden. Grigory Sokolov benadrukt het belang dat hij hecht aan mensenrechten en de verdediging ervan door een recital te geven geven ten voordele van Amnesty International twee dagen na de verjaardag van de verklaring.

Grigory Sokolov entretient avec le public belge un rapport particulier.  Nous sommes heureux d’accueillir chaque année le Maestro, pour partager autour de lui un grand moment de musique. Ce 12 décembre, la magie opérera à nouveau, puisque Grigory Sokolov construira son programme autour de la musique de Mozart. Le suspense fait en quelque sorte partie du jeu, puisque, comme à son habitude, il réserve son choix d’œuvres et ne lève qu’un coin du voile. Il faudra attendre le début de la saison pour connaître son programme complet ! Ses concerts récents à Bozar ont renouvelé notre conviction que Sokolov est un des plus grands pianistes d’aujourd’hui et que son monde intérieur qu’il transpose en musique est une source inépuisable d’inspiration.

Amnesty International est un mouvement mondial de personnes qui luttent pour les droits humains. Le 10 décembre 2023 marquera les 75 ans de la Déclaration universelle des droits de l'homme. Un ensemble de droits reposent sur ce texte de référence qu’il est aujourd’hui nécessaire de protéger. En donnant ce récital au profit d'Amnesty International deux jours après cette date anniversaire, Grigory Sokolov vient rappeler son attachement aux droits fondamentaux et l'importance qu'il donne à leur défense. Grigory Sokolov has a special relationship with the Belgian public.  We are happy to welcome the Maestro every year, to share a wonderful musical experience with him. On 12 December, the magic returns, as Grigory Sokolov will design his programme around the music of Mozart. In a way, the suspense is part of the game, since, as usual, he does not reveal his choice of works beforehand, only providing us with a glimpse of what to expect. We will have to wait until the beginning of the season to find out his full programme! His recent concerts in Bozar have renewed our conviction that Sokolov is one of the greatest pianists of our times and that his inner world, which he transposes into music, serves as an inexhaustible source of inspiration.

Amnesty International is a global movement of people fighting for human rights. 10 December 2023 will mark the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. A whole range of rights are based on this landmark text, which must be protected today. By giving this recital in aid of Amnesty International two days after this anniversary date, Grigory Sokolov is reiterating his attachment to fundamental rights and the importance he attaches to defending them. The organisation thanks him warmly.
