Welcome to the "Age of Aquarius", the age of Aquarius, a time of upheaval, a time without racism, without war. The "Tribe", a group of alternative young people around the trio Berger, Sheila and Claude, drift through life free from imposed norms and the conventions of traditional role models. Equality, free love and peace are her maxims, but the harmony is repeatedly disturbed by the conflict between her own bourgeois origin and the urge for civil disobedience.  "Hair" is an energetic experience full of powerful rock music and psychedelic trips. Due to its raw wildness, its experimental narrative form and its political clout, it initially caused a scandal when it premiered on Broadway in 1968, but quickly became a worldwide cult hit. For the first time, large theaters became the stage for the peace movement and youth counterculture. Songs like "Let The Sunshine In" and "Ain't Got No" subsequently became world hits. Like no other musical, "Hair" is a plea against war and captures the zeitgeist of the young generation not only of the 1960s, but also from the hippie movement to Fridays For Future. This rock musical about the longing for a better and more peaceful future has lost none of its power to this day.  "Hair" was developed by the actors Gerome Ragni (1942-1991) and James Rado (*1932) as a small autobiographically inspired Off-Broadway musical. The music of Galt MacDermot (1928-2018) mixes American rock with African rhythms and finds a very individual style. In 1979 the musical by Miloš Forman was filmed. As director and artistic director of the musical division, Andreas Gergen has made the Landestheater a fixture on the musical scene. He directed i.a. for the Thun Festival and the United Theaters in Vienna. The musical direction is taken over by Wolfgang Götz, who works at the Landestheater e.g. "The Sound of Music" conducted.
