The orchestral epitome of romance, grandeur and virtuosity

The Hankyung arte Philharmonic is recognised for its energetic and youthful performances. After being founded in 2015 by the Korea Economic Daily, it quickly established itself as one of the leading orchestras in South Korea.

It will be performing under the baton of Hong Kong-born Wilson Ng, the youngest conductor in the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra’s history and a prize-winner at many of the world’s most prestigious conducting competitions. Ng will masterfully direct the emotional turbulence of Tchaikovsky’s “Pathétique”, the magnificence of Rachmaninov’s Third Piano Concerto, and the eternal love of nature expressed in The Faint Ginkgo by Ye Xiaogang, one of China’s leading contemporary composers. 

Featured on the piano will be pianist Minsoo Sohn, who has been described by The New York Times as “a genuine artist… born to play the piano”. Known for his poetic vision and musical intelligence, Sohn is also a much sought-after teacher—among his students is Yunchan Lim, the youngest-ever winner of the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in 2022. The “Rach 3”, a concerto of demonic technical difficulty, will serve as the ideal vehicle for Sohn’s stunning clarity and authenticity of interpretation.
