The famous opera enchanted young and old since its first premiere in 1893. The composer initially composed four songs inspired by the fairy tale of the same name, but soon realized that the material was ideal for an opera, which Strauss described as "a masterpiece of the highest quality , original and innovative". 
The charming story of Hansel and Gretel unfolds through dynamic orchestration and characteristic musical themes, while children's songs, dances, scenes in idyllic forests, elves and fairies will impress all young opera lovers

Η διάσημη όπερα μάγεψε μικρούς και μεγάλους ήδη από την πρώτη πρεμιέρα της, το 1893. Ο συνθέτης αρχικά σύνθεσε τέσσερα τραγούδια εμπνευσμένα από το ομότιτλο παραμύθι, αλλά σύντομα αντιλήφθηκε ότι το υλικό ήταν ιδανικό για μία όπερα, την οποία ο Στράους χαρακτήρισε «αριστούργημα υψηλής ποιότητας, πρωτότυπο και καινοτόμο». 
Η γοητευτική ιστορία του Χένσελ και της Γκρέτελ ξεδιπλώνεται μέσα από δυναμική ενορχήστρωση και χαρακτηριστικά μουσικά θέματα, ενώ τα παιδικά τραγούδια, οι χοροί, οι σκηνές σε ειδυλλιακά δάση, τα ξωτικά και οι νεράιδες θα εντυπωσιάσουν όλους τους μικρούς φίλους της όπερας.
