Food deserts are a very real thing in our society. Hansel and Gretel is modernized to show how this optimistic brother and sister travel through the dangers of being alone, away from their home and hungry, with no access to food. Add some magical angels, a sandman, a dew fairy and, of course, a scary witch, and you have some of opera’s greatest musical moments.
