One of the most comical, animated and long-awaited works ever written,  Gioachino Rossini's The Barber of Seville  , always creates a good mood in our performance hall, being greeted, at every performance, with stormy applause from the Cluj audience.

The show brings back in the spotlight Figaro, the Spanish barber full of humor, brave and romantic, who gives charm to the love story between the restless Count Almaviva and the beautiful Rosina. Gioachino Rossini's creation has been a resounding success since its absolute premiere in 1816, when it was presented under the original title, suggestive in fact, "Almaviva" ( Needless caution ). The cheerful barber still holds the headlines of opera houses around the world.

In the charming and colorful Seville of the 18th century, Figaro is the barber loved by the whole city, who helps to fulfill the great love between Rosina and Count Almaviva. The challenge is, however, great, because the beautiful Rosina is also wanted by her old tutor, Bartolo, who has the advantage of the help of Basilio, the young woman's music teacher.

The amorous and comic atmosphere of the opera is given by the multiple tricks used by Count Almaviva and Figaro to approach the beautiful girlfriend and declare her love. The final scene, in which Figaro and the Count enter Rosina's house in the middle of the night, climbing the stairs supported by her balcony, is the one that gives an even more passionate breath to the three-act masterpiece. Rosina's heart is full of joy when Almaviva brings her love, wealth and name to her knees. Professor Basilio, bribed by Bartolo's opponents, who is a witness to the marriage between lovers, is also a participant in the fiery statement. The old and frowning Bartolo arrives too late to stop the union and is comforted only by Almaviva's abandonment of Rosina's dowry, which will remain his.
