Recognizable characters, eccentric comic situations, unpredictable outcomes, spicy and slightly crazy Seville is a real southern city in which, like a drop, the whole of Spain is reflected ... All this prompted the directors' fantasy to combine the visuals of the opera with the atmosphere of the films of Pedro Almodovar - the cult Spanish director of our day. At the same time, the creators of the performance treated the author's original very carefully, preserving the entire plot outline and the motivation of the characters' actions. The result is a bright and modern work, free from outdated production clichés, reminding us of the times when opera appealed to the widest range of audiences. How movies do it these days...

A powerful creative team worked on the creation of the performance, led by the director - Honored Art Worker of Russia, laureate of state awards Georgy Isahakyan (Moscow), familiar to the Rostov public from the opera and ballet mystery "Carmina Burana" by K. Orff, the opera "Faust" Gounod, the operetta "Paganini" by F. Lehar and other productions. The musical director is Andrey Ivanov, chief conductor of the theatre. The production designer is an old friend of the theatre, People's Artist of Russia Vyacheslav Okunev (St. Petersburg).

Узнаваемые типажи, эксцентричные комические ситуации, непредсказуемые развязки, пряная и слегка безумная Севилья — настоящий южный город, в котором, как в капле, отражается вся Испания... Всё это натолкнуло фантазию постановщиков объединить визуальный ряд оперы с атмосферой кинофильмов Педро Альмодовара — культового испанского режиссера наших дней. При этом создатели спектакля очень бережно отнеслись к авторскому оригиналу, сохранив всю сюжетную канву и мотивацию поступков героев. Результат — яркая и современная работа, свободная от устарелых постановочных клише, напоминающая нам о временах, когда опера обращалась к самому широкому кругу зрителей. Как в наши дни это делает кино…

Над созданием спектакля трудилась мощная творческая команда, во главе с режиссёром – заслуженным деятелем искусств России, лауреатом государственных премий Георгием Исаакяном (г. Москва), знакомым ростовской публике по оперно-балетной мистерии «Кармина Бурана» К. Орфа, опере «Фауст» Ш. Гуно, оперетте «Паганини» Ф. Легара и другим постановкам. Музыкальный руководитель – главный дирижер театра Андрей Иванов. Художник-постановщик – давний друг театра, народный художник России Вячеслав Окунев (г. Санкт-Петербург).
