Il trovatore is one of the great classics that Giuseppe Verdi composed with the libretto by Salvatore Cammarano, which was based on the drama El trovador by Antonio García Gutiérrez. Cammarano died before finishing the libretto, which allowed Verdi to make numerous changes, which he entrusted to the young librettist Leone Emanuele Bardare.
With a plot as novelistic as it is intricate, this opera is set at the beginning of the 15th century when the Crown of Aragon was fighting for various suitors after the death without descendants of Martin the Humane.

Il trovatore es uno de los grandes clásicos que Giuseppe Verdi compuso con el “libretto” de Salvatore Cammarano, que  a su vez se había basado en el drama El trovador, de Antonio García Gutiérrez. Lo cierto es que Cammarano murió antes de terminar el "libretto" y ello permitió a Verdi hacer numerosos cambios, que encargó al joven libretitsta Leone Emanuele Bardare.
Esta ópera, con una trama tan novelesca como enrevesada, está ambientada a principios del siglo XV en una Corona de Aragón en pugna por diversos pretendientes tras la muerte sin descendencia de
Martín el Humano.

El cert és que Cammarano va morir abans d’acabar el “libreto” i això va permetre a Verdi fer nombrosos canvis que va encarregar a un jove llibretista Leone Emanuele Bardare.
Aquesta òpera, amb una trama tan novelesca com enrevessada, està ambienta a començaments del segle XV en una Corona d’Aragó en pugna per diversos pretendents després de la mort sense descendència de Martí l’Humà.
