Johann Sebastian Bach's »St. John Passion«, condensed into intense and captivating chamber music. The Icelandic tenor Benedikt Kristjánsson tells the complete Passion in an intimate setting and sings all the parts. The harpsichordist Elina Albach and the percussionist Philipp Lamprecht trace the orchestra with their new, colorful arrangement, while the chorales – inspired by the original performance practice – are sung together with the audience. In 2019, the format was awarded the OPUS Klassik as "Innovative Concert of the Year" and was broadcast live on Good Friday 2020 during the first lockdown from the Thomaskirche in Leipzig to an audience of millions worldwide.

Der isländische Tenor Benedikt Kristjánsson erzählt im intimen Rahmen die komplette Passion und singt alle Partien. Die Cembalistin Elina Albach und der Schlagzeuger Philipp Lamprecht zeichnen mit ihrer neuen, farbenreichen Bearbeitung das Orchester nach, während die Choräle – von der originalen Aufführungspraxis inspiriert – gemeinsam mit dem Publikum gesungen werden. Das Format wurde 2019 mit dem OPUS Klassik als »Innovatives Konzert des Jahres« ausgezeichnet und an Karfreitag 2020 während des ersten Lockdowns live aus der Thomaskirche in Leipzig für ein weltweites Millionenpublikum übertragen.
