La serata si apre con Ma Mère l'Oye di Ravel e la prima esecuzione assoluta di Manuale d'esorcismo di Michele dall'Ongaro, composizione su commissione del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, per continuare con la Sinfonia n. 3 di Sergej Prokof'ev, un brano derivato dall'opera L'angelo di fuoco, che non fu mai messa in scena mentre il compositore era in vita. La trama parla di una donna, Renata, in preda a rapimenti mistici e crisi di erotismo isterico, innamorata di un angelo di fuoco, e nella cui storia appaiono anche Faust e Mefistofele prima di essere condannata al rogo come strega. La musica di Prokof'ev trasmette il senso delle percezioni diaboliche con ritmi e colori, alternando momenti di quiete ad accordi stridenti.

The evening opens with Ravel's Ma Mère l'Oye and the world premiere of Manual d'exorcismo by Michele dall'Ongaro, a composition commissioned by the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, to continue with the Symphony n. 3 by Sergei Prokofiev, a piece derived from the opera  The Fiery Angel , which was never performed in the composer's lifetime. The plot is about a woman, Renata, prey to mystical kidnappings and crises of hysterical eroticism, in love with a fiery angel, and in whose story Faust and Mephistopheles also appear before being condemned to the stake as a witch. Prokofiev's music conveys the sense of diabolical perceptions with rhythms and colors, alternating moments of quiet with strident chords.
