The name says it all: when the ensemble Il pomo d'oro was founded ten years ago, it was named after a sensational baroque opera by Antonio Cesti. Since then, music theater from the 17th and 18th centuries has been the focus of Il pomo d'oro, which the press describes as »perhaps the most exciting baroque team at the moment« thanks to its lively, spirited musical style. Under the motto Tenore Assoluto, the ensemble and the singer Michael Spyres present virtuoso tenor arias from successful operas by Georg Friedrich Handel, Antonio Vivaldi, Johann Adolph Hasse and others.

Der Name ist Programm: Als sich das Ensemble Il pomo dʼoro vor zehn Jahren gründete, benannte es sich nach einer aufsehenerregenden Barock-Oper von Antonio Cesti. Musiktheater des 17. und 18. Jahrhunderts steht seither im Fokus von Il pomo dʼoro, das die Presse dank seiner spritzigen, temperamentvollen Musizierweise als das »aktuell vielleicht aufregendste Barockteam« bezeichnet. Unter dem Motto Tenore Assoluto stellen das Ensemble und der Sänger Michael Spyres virtuose Tenorarien aus Erfolgsopern von Georg Friedrich Händel, Antonio Vivaldi, Johann Adolph Hasse und anderen vor.
